Ojwang Mercy Tabi
Communication Specialist and Administrator
Ojwang Mercy Tabi is a communication specialists and has two years work experience in office administration. She has a background in writing, video and audio editing, graphic design and photography. She is a resourceful and experienced professional with several years of quality work experience acquired in several challenging roles with established companies in Kenya. She is proactive, she provides support to top management and employees, managing the company’s general administrative duties.
She has delivered written materials and videos that met both local and international professional standards. She relates and works well with all her colleagues and superiors and is an innovative problem solver who is able to generate workable solutions and resolve complaints.
Mercy current roles are providing support to top management and employees of Yu-Hub Africa (focusses on harnessing entrepreneurship and coding skills among the youth), by managing the company’s general administrative activities and writing the company’s newsletters. She also volunteers at Neema Girls Project as a part-time communication assistant and in the Africa Basque Challenge as an administrative assistant. Thanks to DOT and Yu-Hub Africa’s alliance she also plays role as Communication Specialist and Administrator for DOT in Kenya and support DOT projects in Africa.
Mercy has previously worked at Amref Health Africa as a communication assistant in two different projects, that is Amref’s Health Africa’s Health Systems Strengthening project, which bridges the gap in health systems by delivering quality diagnostic services in the remote areas of Kenya and CEI, Safe Motherhood Project, which seeks to reduce this burden by reaching out to women in needy and underserved counties of Turkana, Marsabit and Garissa.
She is enrolled and will begin her masters in Project Planning and Management at University of Nairobi in September. She holds both a diploma and a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a certificate in Graphic Design from Nairobi institute of business studies.
Africa Basque Challenge (ABC) Experience and Circular Economy Project, Kenya. Mercy took part in the first leg of the ABC in 2018 which saw participants from Kenya and Spain take part in two boot camps held in Nairobi, Kenya and Bilbao, Basque country, Spain. The challenge transformed her perception about innovation and provided her a forum to immediately apply her insights.
Mercy team formed a company called Africa to the World, (A2W). A2W is a professional data handling company that provides reliable product information to consumers and everyone involved in a value chain addition process to enhance customer satisfaction.
Through ABC she is going to partner with Impact Hub Donostia Spain and International Movement of Catholic Student, IMCS pax Romana, Kenya, in a project called ‘Once upon a time Circular Economy in Swahili’. The project aims to teach Circular economy to primary school going children through workshops, by translating Gunter Pauli’s fables which are based on real scientific facts from English to Swahili. The fables promote sustainability and responsible consumption.
